UTC’s Cloud Cap technology selected by Integrated Surveillance and Defense for U.S. Navy program
UTC Aerospace Systems will deliver Cloud Cap Technology TASE 400 imaging payloads to Integrated Surveillance and Defense (ISD) in support of a U.S. Navy intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) program. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp.
The delivery is part of a U.S. Navy award contract in direct support of worldwide combat missions including round-the-clock imagery and other sensor capability in both sea-and land-based missions. The TASE 400 has onboard image processing capable of target tracking, scene steering and electronic image stabilization. The lower weight and minimal power requirements of the TASE 400 translate into increased useful load, endurance and mission performance.
ISD is a U.S.-based veteran-owned small business that specializes in airborne and ground systems engineering, logistics and management services to both government and commercial industries. The installation of the Cloud Cap Technology TASE 400 will provide ISD with high-performance advanced daytime and nighttime imagery to support its multi-mission capability.
“The low SWaP (size, weight and power) payload and advanced optics of the Cloud Cap TASE 400 was a critical requirement in providing the U.S. Navy with a turn-key ISR platform,” said Steve Pierce, vice president, operations at ISD.
“The opportunity for UTC Aerospace Systems and Integrated Surveillance and Defense to combine their advanced systems and worldwide experience in support of warfighters is something we are especially proud of,” said John Trezza, vice president for force protection at UTC Aerospace Systems.
