AI.Reverie announces strategic partnership with In-Q-Tel
AI.Reverie of San Jose, CA announced on March 12 a strategic partnership and an investment from In-Q-Tel (IQT). IQT is the not-for-profit strategic investor that identifies and accelerates the delivery of innovative technology solutions to support the mission of the U.S. intelligence and defense agencies that keep our nation safe. This strategic partnership reinforces AI.Reverie as the market leader in synthetic data and further validates the company’s proprietary computer vision simulation platform in supporting the operational requirements of U.S. government agencies.
“AI.Reverie’s platform enables U.S. government agencies to significantly advance their computer vision capabilities,” said Peter Bronez, senior member of technical staff at IQT. “It has the potential to significantly improve the accuracy of AI tools that detect objects and activity to keep our nation safe.”
There is a significant need for large amounts of diverse data that mimics real-world locations and objects to train mission-critical computer vision applications. AI.Reverie generates an entirely new class of data that successfully trains and improves computer vision algorithms at scale.
Key benefits of AI.Reverie’s platform include:
- Photorealistic Virtual Worlds: The company builds photorealistic virtual worlds to closely mimic any true location where clients’ services are used. Photorealism ensures that the synthetic data is effective in training AI to operate in the physical world. Because simulations are easier to control, these virtual worlds are the most effective place to test, train and improve computer vision algorithms.
- Diverse Objects and Scenarios: Reverie offers diverse images and edge-case scenarios to ensure that the training algorithms generalize well. Difficult-to-reach places such as underwater locations, hard-to-replicate scenarios such as extreme weather, varying perspectives from top-down to bottom-up, and black swan events like crashes all become easily simulated in virtual worlds.
- Near Zero Cost Annotations: Reverie provides automatically-annotated synthetic data — at scale and without errors — saving time and lowering costs for training computer vision algorithms. Annotations such as 2D and 3D bounding boxes, semantic and instance-level segmentation, and more are all automatically generated in real time.
“The endorsement from IQT is a major milestone for AI.Reverie and further validates the company’s proprietary computer vision simulation platform,” said Daeil Kim, founder and CEO of AI.Reverie. “We expect our partnership to address the need to deliver images and annotations at scale in order to effectively train mission-critical computer vision AI applications.”
