DRS Technologies names Jim Scott as president of its aviation, communication and homeland security group
Finmeccanica North America and DRS Technologies CEO William J. Lynn has announced the appointment of Jim Scott as president of the company’s aviation, communication and homeland security (ACHS) business group.
Prior to this appointment, Scott served as vice president and general manager for the Global Enterprise Solutions business unit of ACHS. He has spent more than 20 years in the defense industry, with particular expertise in full lifecycle telecommunication systems and security and logistics operations.
Scott will oversee the DRS portfolio of satellite services, network and telecommunications, electronics and cyber security solutions and aviation maintenance repair and overhaul businesses. The Aviation, Communication and Homeland Security business is headquartered in Herndon, VA, with major facilities in North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Florida, Montana and Germany.
“Jim is a dynamic and energetic leader with a proven track record of success,” Lynn said. “His industry experience across a variety of important disciplines will serve him well as he leads the group into the future,” Lynn continued.
During his 10 years at DRS, Scott has provided strategic and operational direction for the Global Enterprise Solutions unit and overseen major military programs involving the U.S. Special Operations Command, Defense Information Systems Agency, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), U.S. Army and the Pentagon.
Prior to his career at DRS, Scott served on active and reserve duty as a U.S. Army Signal Officer in a variety of command and staff positions. He also served as a U.S. Defense Department civilian within the Army’s Battle Command Battle Lab and held engineering and leadership roles within SPAWAR.
Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
