DIA Director LtGen Vincent Stewart to keynote 2017 INSA Achievement Awards ceremony

insa-logo-112Defense Intelligence Agency Director Lieutenant General Vincent R. Stewart (USMC) will keynote the 2017 INSA Achievement Awards ceremony at the United States Institute of Peace on Thursday, February 23, 2017, the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) recently announced.

General Stewart will help recognize the accomplishments of young professionals in the intelligence and national security communities, and discuss the importance of mentorship as they strive for excellence in defense of the nation.

INSA President Chuck Alsup said, “A bright, talented, and diverse workforce across the public, private, and academic sectors is essential to our national security. This is why the INSA Achievement Awards seek to recognize the contributions of young professionals from all of these critical sectors. We hope such recognition encourages these promising individuals to continue to serve and hopefully one day be senior leaders of our national and homeland security efforts. I strongly encourage our partners in government, industry and academia, whether they are INSA members or not, to nominate someone today who is distinguishing themself early in their promising career.”

Of particular note, INSA encourages those in the private sector supporting the intelligence and national security communities to nominate their junior and mid-level professionals for the Edwin H. Land Industry Award. Nominees would include private sector employees who support the intelligence and/or national security missions with 8-10 years of nonexecutive experience. Prior Land Industry Award recipients hailed from Vencore, Northrop Grumman, LMI Consulting and Exelis, Inc.

The Land Industry Award is one of six presented annually as part of the INSA Achievement Awards program, which provides early career recognition to intelligence and national security professionals serving as government employees, uniformed military, contractors supporting government, academics, and first responders. Nominations for all of these awards are being accepted now, including for the Joan A. Dempsey Mentorship Award. Nominees for the mentorship award are encouraged from public, private and academic elements up to and including GS-15/0-6 and equivalent rank.

The online nomination form and additional details are available at www.insaonline.org/Achievement. The nomination form takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Instructions to submit a classified nomination, if necessary, are available by contacting INSA at achievement@insaonline.org.

INSA also announced that the nomination period for all awards has been extended through Monday, November 14, 2016.
