Avecto and Carahsoft partner to protect federal government IT
Avecto, an endpoint security software firm with U.S. headquarters in Somerville, MA, and Reston, VA-based government IT solutions provider Carahsoft Technology Corp., announced on November 18 a distribution agreement to bring Avecto’s award-winning Defendpoint software to public sector customers.
The agreement will enable Carahsoft to carry Defendpoint on a range of government contracts, as well as provide dedicated sales, marketing and order management resources to support Avecto’s growing network of government resellers and drive further demand for its Defendpoint software.
Avecto’s partnership with Carahsoft comes at a time when the US Federal Government is under increased scrutiny around the health of its cyber security. In July of this year, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) revealed that the details of 21.5 million people from both inside and outside the government had been compromised in a data breach.
Ananth Appathurai, VP of Strategic Alliances at Avecto, said the partnership with Carahsoft would help amplify the benefits of a proactive security stance. “For too long, organizations both public and private, have relied on outdated security technologies and strategies. This reactive security approach is redundant in today’s threat landscape and keeps organizations on the back foot in the battle against malware and hackers.
“Carahsoft truly understands the need for organizations to take a proactive stance, the importance of this within a government setting and the value of Defendpoint. We are looking forward to growing this partnership and further improving cyber security in the public sector.”
Brian O’Donnell, Vice President at Carahsoft, added, “Carahsoft is pleased to partner with Avecto to provide our reseller partners and federal government customers with the best tools to protect themselves against constantly evolving security threats. Avecto’s Defendpoint solution offers comprehensive, proactive endpoint protection that’s easy to implement and integrate. We are excited to bring this innovation to more government agencies.”
