Christy Abizaid leaves NCTC
On July 18, Director of National Intelligence Avril D. Haines issued the following statement:
“On behalf of the Intelligence Community (IC), I thank Christy Abizaid for her principled, effective, and dedicated leadership as the 8th Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC). Since being sworn in as NCTC Director more than three years ago, Christy led the Center to address an evolving counterterrorism threat environment while also preparing the NCTC workforce for future challenges. I am incredibly grateful for Christy’s extraordinary counsel and knowledge, as well as for her kindness, courage, and dedication to NCTC and our nation’s security. We will miss her deeply and wish her all the best as she departs NCTC this week.”
“As we thank Christy, we welcome Brett Holmgren, former Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research, as the Acting NCTC Director. We are so fortunate to have a distinguished member of the IC leadership team and another truly exceptional counterterrorism leader join us at ODNI.”
