Carlyle Group Names Larry Prior as operating executive for Aerospace, Defense & Government Services
The Carlyle Group announced on June 28 that Larry Prior, former president and CEO of information technology services company CSRA, Inc., has been retained as an operating executive consultant for the Aerospace, Defense & Government Services team.
Prior will provide investment guidance, from sourcing to acquisition, to Carlyle professionals in the Global Aerospace, Defense and Government Services Group and advise portfolio company executives on management, operations and growth strategies. He joins a group of more than 40 senior business executives– with an average of more than 30 years of experience – who help Carlyle invest wisely and build value across a range of industries.
Adam Palmer, Carlyle managing director and head of the Global Aerospace, Defense and Government Services Group, said, “Larry is a proven industry leader, with deep sector knowledge and experience serving government customers. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
Prior said, “I am pleased to partner with Carlyle and look forward to providing operational and leadership expertise to help evaluate new investment opportunities in the consolidating government services marketplace and drive value creation within Carlyle’s existing portfolio.”
Ian Fujiyama, managing director within Carlyle’s Global Aerospace, Defense and Government Services Group, said, “Larry will be a great resource to both our existing portfolio company executive teams as well as to our investment teams as we evaluate new opportunities in the expanding government services market. We look forward to leveraging Larry’s deep knowledge and understanding of the government services sector to build on Carlyle’s extensive experience investing in and growing leading businesses in the industry.”
Prior was most recently CEO of CSRA, a $9.6 billion provider of IT, business operations and specialized engineering services for local, state and federal government clients across North America. Previously, Prior was vice president and general manager of the Defense and Intelligence Group in CSC’s North American Public Sector (NPS) business, providing next-generation technology solutions and mission services to the U.S. Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.
As a senior executive with more than 30 years of public and private sector experience, Prior has an extensive background in intelligence, security, technology and defense initiatives. Before joining CSC, Prior served as executive vice president of Service Sectors and chief operating officer for BAE Systems Inc. Prior has held executive leadership positions at ManTech International, SAIC, LightPointe Communications, High Technology Solutions, the County of San Diego and TRW. Earlier in his career, Prior worked as a professional staff member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.
