On February 20, Summit 7, a trusted partner for DoD cybersecurity, compliance, and managed services, with the largest team of certified experts in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), announced that it has officially achieved dual CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) Level 2 assessment certifications. This milestone further solidifies Summit 7’s position as the trusted partner for proactive, excellence-driven organizations.
The first certification demonstrates that Summit 7 corporate meets DFARS 252.204-7012 and 7021 requirements, including its capability to process, store, and transmit Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) as part of a federal contract. The second certification is focused on Summit 7’s Guardian and Vigilance Managed Services offerings, validating its Shared Responsibility Matrix in all areas where Summit 7 provides full or partial coverage of NIST 800-171r2 control implementation on behalf of its customers.
“Summit 7 completing our CMMC L2 assessment is not just about compliance—it’s about building confidence and trust within the DIB,” said Scott Edwards, CEO of Summit 7. “For over eight years, we’ve been equipping defense contractors with the appropriate tools, knowledge, and services needed to meet and exceed the government’s security requirements. We standardized our offerings on the industry leading Microsoft Azure Government and Microsoft 365 GCC High platforms from the beginning. Achieving the dual CMMC certifications underscores our commitment to leading by example and ensuring the security of our nation’s supply chain.”
The certifications come in the wake of the finalized 32 CFR rule, which has made the CMMC certification process a reality for the DIB. Since the effective date of DFARS 252.204-7012 in 2016, Summit 7 has worked tirelessly to prepare its clients for this moment, providing comprehensive services that address the unique challenges faced by defense contractors handling CUI.
“This milestone demonstrates the strength and depth of our commitment to compliance and security,” said Joy Beland, VP of cybersecurity compliance at Summit 7. “These dual certifications validate our ability to meet the stringent requirements of DFARS and to deliver reliable, high-quality service offerings through our Guardian and Vigilance solutions. We’re proud to set an example for the DIB and help strengthen national security.”
“The stakes have never been higher for national security and the businesses that support it,” Edwards added. “These certifications are a signal to our over 1,000 DIB customers that we’re not only committed to their security posture and our compliance with the CMMC requirements, but to protecting the integrity of the supply chain for years to come. We’re honored to help companies do things the right way—the first time.”
