ProQuest and The Economist Intelligence Unit collaborate on new country reports digital archive
ProQuest and The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) have teamed to create the first online archive of the EIU’s global economic analyses — a single source for unbiased, comprehensive reports and statistical data on approximately 200 countries.
Economist Intelligence Unit Country Reports Archive will combine ProQuest’s expertise in digitization, search technology and data manipulation to make nearly a half-century of the EIU’s acclaimed Country Reports and Quarterly Economic Reviews accessible and searchable on the ProQuest platform, improving research outcomes in history, political science, international studies and economics.
“ProQuest’s goal is to open new avenues for research by making high-quality, authoritative content easy to explore by students and scholars,” said Jeff Wilensky, ProQuest Vice-President, Product Management. “Access to historical EIU reports in one place, with powerful information tools at hand, will accelerate new research insights in many disciplines. We’re thrilled to be extending our partnership with EIU to bring this to market.”
When complete, EIU Country Reports Archive will include 15,000 reports, encompassing quarterly reports from 1952 through 1995, plus regional oil/energy reports from 1971 through 1987. The reports provide economic and political forecasts for countries along with analyses of their key developments and major policies, as well as detailed country-level statistics. The archive’s accessibility on the ProQuest platform means users can search the reports quickly and precisely. Economic data, and other statistical tables are all downloadable as spreadsheets, making them easy to explore, analyze and manipulate.
EIU Country Reports Archive will debut in November 2014, with approximately 75 percent of the reports available by the end of the year. The balance will be added in early 2015.
EIU Country Reports Archive is one part of a broader partnership between ProQuest and the Economist Group. ProQuest also provides access via ABI/INFORM to The Economist magazine and other current content from EIU.
