President Biden to nominate Christine Abizaid as NCTC director

On April 12, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines issued the following statement regarding President Joseph Biden’s intent to nominate Christine Abizaid as the first Senate confirmed female Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC):

“Christy brings a command of counterterrorism issues, leadership acumen, and enterprising approach that will enable her to effectively steer NCTC and lead the CT mission into the future. During the Obama Administration, Christy served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central Asia. She also held key leadership positions on the National Security Council, as both Director for Counterterrorism and Senior Policy Advisor to the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism.
