On May 8, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) released the Intelligence Community (IC) Policy Framework for Commercially Available Information (CAI). Increasingly important to our work, CAI also poses novel issues related to privacy and civil liberties, and ODNI created this Policy Framework to govern the IC’s access to, collection, and processing of CAI.
“In keeping with my commitment to share as much as possible about the IC’s activities, we are sharing this framework which provides effective governance for the IC’s handling of CAI while also protecting Americans’ privacy and civil liberties,” said Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines.
