NGA awards prototype OTA to SOSSEC, Inc.

NGA awarded an Other Transaction Authority (OTA) prototype agreement to SOSSEC, Inc. July 13, to drive innovative and transformational change into the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence and Allied System for Geospatial-Intelligence environments, the agency announced August 23.

The agreement has an approximate $30M ceiling for multiple prototype project awards.

An OTA is the term commonly used to refer to the authority to enter into transactions other than contracts, grants or cooperative agreements. As a result, agencies can customize their OTAs to help meet project requirements and mission needs. OTAs have been used in the federal government and Department of Defense for a range of projects including research and development and prototyping activities.

“The OTA gives NGA a very rapid way to engage with non-traditional providers to create prototypes and, if the prototype is successful, an acquisition path to go from prototype to full production without delay,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Marc DiPaolo, NGA’s chief of innovation mainstreaming.

SOSSEC is a Massachusetts-based company with offices in Atkinson, New Hampshire and Stroudsburg and Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

The program shall serve as a vehicle for attracting new technologies and accelerating the R&D cycle of basic and advanced prototypes that support resolution of intelligence problems.
