Modus Operandi launches new big data analytics product that fuses human intelligence with data
Melbourne, FL-based Modus Operandi, which for 30 years has provided contextual pattern recognition for government customers, introduced on March 30 its MOVIA™ Big Data analytics platform to the commercial sector. MOVIA leverages extensive military intelligence analysis capabilities to help commercial organizations watch for important patterns in their data and generate instant alerts to users or other systems.
MOVIA takes data analytics further, by enabling improved prediction of trends through advanced data modeling that captures situational context, so decisions are not ‘made in a vacuum.’ This ensures important trends won’t be missed. It employs semantics and logical reasoning to discover important patterns, sending warnings as SMS text messages, e-mails, and visual pop-ups.
MOVIA provides a small footprint, whereby smart software ‘agents’ can be deployed into the enterprise, attaching to one’s data and recognizing key ‘fingerprints’ and warning of emerging trends. The technology ‘codifies’ complex human concepts and automates analysis-based decisions – providing just-in-time alerts and warnings. It watches for ‘patterns of life’ changes, which can be used for many applications in the commercial sector, including: logistical problems, non-compliance with regulations, identifying customer profiles, or understanding when a competitor shifts strategy.
Modus Operandi is applying MOVIA across a broad range of markets, including bioinformatics, cyber security, pharmaceutical, financial, manufacturing and retail sectors.
“MOVIA captures and translates human knowledge and real-time analysis into embedded applications, and allows automated decision-making that thinks more like you rather than making you try to think like your data,” said Dr. Eric Little, vice president, chief scientist, Modus Operandi.
“There is an enormous and growing gap between the need for people with Big Data scientist skills and their availability,” said Rick McNeight, president, Modus Operandi. “The MOVIA analysis platform helps address this gap by providing a tool that shrinks down many of the complex tasks of analyzing large amounts of Big Data that traditionally have required data scientists.”
