Kryptowire and Qualcomm awarded $1.8M by DHS

Kryptowire of Fairfax, VA announced on September 28 that the Qualcomm Cyber Security Solutions division of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, of San Diego, CA, has been awarded $1.8M by the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T) to demonstrate Qualcomm Technologies’ hardware-anchored Mission-Critical-Grade Security Layer (MCGSL) that leverages the Snapdragon Mobile Security Platform and extends its foundational commercial capabilities to Kryptowire’s military-grade mobile application security testing platform to address zero-day threats on commercial mobile devices.

Qualcomm Technologies’ MCGSL framework will be engineered to continuously validate and secure third-party apps and services, helping to protect their integrity on the mobile device. This approach is designed to offer broad coverage against a wide range of threats due to device utilization context, application behavioral profile information and user authentication information that can be used to reduce false-positive identification of security incidents and uncover previously unseen advanced persistent threats. The project is intended to demonstrate the potential for broad use across devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon Mobile Platforms.
