IHS and Airbus Defence and Space team up to deliver news-breaking satellite imagery analysis
On January 8, Englewood, CO-based IHS Inc. and Airbus Defence and Space announced a three-year partnership agreement that brings together two global leaders in the field of open source intelligence.
Under the agreement, Airbus Defence and Space will provide newly acquired imagery from its Pléiades, SPOT and TerraSAR-X satellites, for use as primary sources and fusion with open source information for actionable intelligence. It will also provide access to the GO Monitor service, which delivers reliable surveillance and change information anywhere on Earth. The Airbus and IHS Aerospace, Defence & Security partnership brings together world leaders in insight and imagery to deliver a detailed picture of dynamic events in volatile regions worldwide.
IHS Aerospace, Defence & Security has been using imagery from Airbus Defence and Space for over two years, breaking significant news stories on a second Russian base in Syria, new developments in North Korea’s nuclear programme as well as island building in the South China Sea.
“Our team of satellite imagery analysts is able to break these stories because of the timely imagery from Airbus,” said Blake Bartlett, vice president of IHS Aerospace, Defence & Security. “We look forward to delivering new analysis that we can share over the next three years of our partnership.”
Airbus Defence and Space’s offering has been specifically developed to support the demanding requirements of the GEOINT community, including the many and varied challenges faced by military and intelligence agencies.
“We are very pleased to reinforce our partnership with IHS Aerospace, Defence & Security and deliver recent, reliable and detailed analysis to the geospatial intelligence community based on our multi-resolution satellite constellation,” said Bernhard Brenner, head of Geo-Intelligence Programme Line at Airbus Defence and Space.
