Cubic announces two key executive promotions
Cubic Mission Solutions (CMS), a business division of San Diego, CA-based Cubic Corporation announced on November 9 the promotion of Paul Gierow, former president of GATR Technologies (GATR), to vice president of technology for CMS as well as the appointment of Roark McDonald, former vice president of programs at GATR, to the role of general manager and vice president of GATR.
CMS is a new business division within Cubic specifically focused on networked Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities for defense, intelligence, security and commercial missions. CMS delivers C4ISR solutions that provide information capture, assessment, exploitation and dissemination in a secure network-centric environment.
As the new vice president of technology for CMS, Gierow will drive innovation efforts and new technology development to be aligned with CMS and its overall growth strategy. McDonald will be charged with the daily operations and business management as the new general manager and vice president of GATR.
“These organizational updates within our Cubic Mission Solutions business are integral as we develop and strengthen our secure communications and networking business to better serve our customers,” said Mike Twyman, president of Cubic Mission Solutions. “Both Paul and Roark played key roles in the success of GATR and they will continue to bring a wealth of experience and leadership to CMS strategy as we grow and expand the business.”
Gierow has more than 20 years of experience in the aerospace and satellite industries in addition to more than 10 years of management and leadership skills at GATR, which he co-founded in 2004 upon development of its inflatable satellite antenna. Gierow received his Master of Science in mechanical engineering from University of Alabama, Huntsville and is a registered Professional Engineer.
McDonald has more than 15 years of executive leadership and management in the domestic and international aerospace and defense markets. He has held leadership positions for multiple Acquisition Category (ACAT-1D) programs, for both Missile Defense Agency and the Army. McDonald joined GATR earlier this year to provide strategic leadership for program management disciplines and ensure continued successful program execution and customer satisfaction in recently awarded programs of record. McDonald holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University.
