On June 4, Ultra I&C announced that it and Dell Technologies have been selected for the competitive Software Programmable Open Mission Systems Compliant (SPOC) processor procurement to provide support to the United States Air Force (USAF) Materiel Command Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). Ultra I&C will collaborate with Dell Technologies to deliver software development, integration and systems testing for the SPOC processor.
The partnership will supply the OMS-compliant CSO 3U-VPX SPOC processor along with comprehensive program management and cybersecurity support to ensure secure supply chains. Ultra I&C will spearhead integration and software development efforts, utilizing their commercial ruggedized processor to fulfill the Air Force’s open mission system requirements.
“Our team is dedicated to keeping our solutions modular and open, making sure we are eliminating vendor-lock and being true partners to support the Airborne Networking layer,” said Randy Fields, chief technology officer of Ultra I&C’s C2I business. “This award reflects not only our team’s technical capabilities, but also our dedication to transparency, collaboration and performance.”
This commercial off-the-shelf solution will provide the U.S. Air Force a low-risk, turnkey platform that accelerates integration of larger aircraft systems and paves the way for future application. Certified for air operations in austere environments, the processor delivers tactical edge computing capabilities where they’re needed most.
