Tripwire now has 23 security-related patents in its portfolio

Tripwire, Inc., a global provider of risk-based security and compliance management solutions, announced on February 4 the award of three new patents by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the last quarter of 2013.

Through the acquisition of nCircle in 2013, Tripwire acquired 11 additional patents, bringing the total number of patents in its portfolio to 23. The patents cover a wide range of security innovations.

Tripwire’s newest patents include:

U.S. patent US8566823 covers a technology used to monitor virtual machines. If a virtual infrastructure system event is detected, the technology can create an alert or generate a script that can, for example, remediate the event.

U.S. patent US8600996 covers technology used to identify, categorize and create clusters of system change data using a list of inference techniques which may include rules, settings and parameters. Once the change data has been identified and categorized, a report with additional information about the changes is generated.

U.S. patent US8615572 extends the network services platform of two previous Tripwire patents and provides additional services to remote enterprise networks via an Internet Protocol (IP) tunnel and bridge. The services platform provides a control module to a computer in the enterprise network, which then establishes an IP tunnel between the services platform and the computer for the purpose of providing the requested network services.
