SOS International subsidiary awarded US State Department contract
Exovera, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reston, VA-based SOS International LLC (SOSi), has been awarded a five-year contract by the U.S. State Department to monitor and analyze traditional and social media in support of the U.S. embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, using EV3, the company’s cloud-based media analysis software.
“Exovera offers innovative tools to facilitate the government’s ability to monitor and analyze traditional and social media trends,” said Exovera President Jeremy Davis. “Our current support of several U.S. diplomatic missions around the world requires a combination of advanced data analysis, visualization tools and multilingual human analysis to provide embassy staff with a unique perspective on cultural and political attitudes in specific regions as they relate to current U.S. policy.”
Exovera began as a program SOSi established and managed in 2006 under a $70 million contract with the U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM). SOSi was hired by STRATCOM to establish an around-the-clock global media watch center in support of the Department of Defense. At the height of the program, SOSi had more than 100 full-time, dedicated employees and analyzed media trends in more than 70 countries worldwide. The company developed new technologies to collect and parse information for human analysis, and distribute analytical products to more than 10,000 end-users across the federal government.
In 2012, Exovera was established as a separate self-funded commercial enterprise with a focus on U.S. diplomatic missions in Central Asia and the Middle East, government agencies and select commercial clients. The company aggregates and analyzes 350,000 news and social media sites representing more than one million information sources around the world. It operates a news desk and customer support center 24 hours-per-day, 365 days-per-year blending advanced technology with international subject matter expertise to provide curated information and alerts for the highest quality intelligence, situational awareness, event monitoring and event forecasting.
Launched in 2016, EV3 is a sophisticated, cloud-based analysis engine that can be customized to address each client’s unique objectives. EV3 uses advanced tools to mine unstructured data, enriching its powerful discovery engine and delivering information through intuitive data visualization tools that make patterns and events easy to identify.
