Searching for crowd-sourced funds, butterfleye unveils smart, social, connected camera
butterfleye unveiled on May 21 a smart camera with ‘Active Eye Intelligence’ that lets you see and hear what’s happening in your home when you are away.
When you are nearby, butterfleye becomes your personal photographer, capturing candid moments that might otherwise be missed. The smart, social and connected camera features Active Eye Intelligence that automatically captures pictures and videos throughout the day and uploads them to the Cloud, where they can then be accessed via an iPhone and shared on social networks including Facebook, Instagram and Vine.
butterfleye also features built in BLE and WIFI capabilities, allowing it to connect to other smart devices in the house. With butterfleye, users can stay connected to their home, pets, children and loved ones when they physically can’t be there. butterfleye has launched a crowdfunding campaign to focus on the production of the smart devices and to give consumers the opportunity to preorder the cameras at a below-retail price. “The butterfleye camera with Active Eye Intelligence is a 21st century take on outdated 24/7 surveillance systems”
“The butterfleye camera with Active Eye Intelligence is a 21st century take on outdated 24/7 surveillance systems,” said Ben Nader, founder and CEO, butterfleye. “First, butterfleye gives you instant access to what’s going on in your home no matter where you are. It will not only send you pictures and videos that you can share via social media, but will allow you to take a live look inside your home whenever you want, giving you peace of mind that your loved ones and valuables are safe. Second, when you are home, butterfleye becomes a third party photographer, automatically taking pictures and videos, allowing you to live in the moment and not have to document it from behind the lens of a camera. And third, butterfleye has the ability to connect to other smart devices, enabling new levels of home control and automation.”
While traditional 24/7 surveillance cameras result in hours of unneeded footage, butterfleye’s innovative Active Eye Intelligence features a learning algorithm and video analytics that actually allow it to learn behavior. It knows when people are home and when they are not. It recognizes when there is an important event happening that needs to be recorded and understands when it is time for the camera to shut down. Instead of recording an empty living room, the camera’s energy sensor detects humans and pets and turns on when a live being enters the room. The camera is also triggered by audio intelligence that listens for specific sounds.
Other features of the butterfleye camera include:
Wireless: butterfleye is the first home monitoring camera that is 100% wire-free, says a news release issued by the company. Users are never restricted from choosing the perfect location to place the camera. Users can move butterfleye from room-to-room without the use of a power cord and can take the camera with them on the go.
Connected – butterfleye features built in BLE and WIFI technologies that enable connection to other smart devices in the house, such as telling Nest to turn down the thermometer because no one is home or turning on the lights for someone walking into a dark room.
Full HD Quality: The butterfleye camera has a wide-angle 3MPixel lens with high performance in low light environment. Camera includes face detection and a proximity sensor, automatically zooming in on the object of interest and producing high-resolution pictures and 1920 x 1080 videos.
butterfleye App: butterfleye’s smartphone app is extremely powerful and intuitive. It allows users to create, view, edit and save photos and video clips. Functions include live-view from camera and review/view of a users’ timeline. Most importantly, it lets users share their memories on various social media outlets.
Two-Way Audio – The butterfleye camera features a built-in speaker and microphone allowing users to communicate directly with people in their homes.
Storage: butterfleye camera has two types of storage to make sure important moments are never lost: local storage (on the camera) and Cloud storage. Local storage empowers users to literally take the camera with them anywhere, capture beautiful memories and later seamlessly sync those pictures and videos to the Cloud to download on their smartphones. Cloud storage means never having to worry about running out of storage or losing important events. With butterfleye, every event is saved in the Cloud and is accessible from a smartphone.
Ahead of its anticipated end of the year release, butterfleye is holding a crowdfunding campaign, allowing consumers to purchase limited quantities of the smart camera below the suggested retail price of $199. Optional Cloud storage packages will also be available at an additional cost.
