Red Hat, Inc., a leading provider of open source solutions based in Raleigh, NC, announced on October 1 that officials from 13 government agencies are scheduled to speak at the 2015 Red Hat Government Symposium, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, General Services Administration (GSA), Pennsylvania State University, and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). They will join dozens of speakers with subject matter expertise and more than 650 government and IT business professionals to discuss open source software’s role in addressing key government IT challenges at the event on Nov. 10, 2015, in Arlington, Va.
The Red Hat Government Symposium is designed to address complex challenges facing today’s federal IT professionals, including balancing the need for greater flexibility, agility, and collaboration with secure and cost-effective solutions. Key topics will include DevOps, mobility, cloud, virtualization, containers, and more, with a focus on how government agencies at all levels are deploying open source solutions and strategies to advance innovation. The event will feature breakout sessions and technical labs with specialized tracks for architects and developers, operations, and management.
This year, Damon Edwards, principal at DTO Solutions, will deliver the keynote address and discuss success with DevOps in government IT. Co-founder of DTO Solutions, which provides DevOps and automation solutions for large-scale and mission critical IT operations, Edwards is an innovator of technology who has spent more than 12 years working on both the technology and business ends of web operations. He also provides consulting support to help agencies realize the business impact DevOps can have, and how this methodology can improve agility by increasing collaboration.
“The way government IT operates is evolving rapidly, and agencies are consistently balancing the need to meet current industry standards with the desire to use the latest and best technology. This technology is changing the way teams work and the way projects are executed, resulting in increased efficiency and innovation across agencies,” said Paul Smith, vice president and general manger, U.S. Public Sector, Red Hat. We are proud to host the 2015 Red Hat Government Symposium, and offer this inspiring community of developers and leaders an opportunity to come together and collaborate on the challenges they face and solutions they’ve found.”
