On July 26, Arlington, VA-based Raytheon Intelligence & Space, a Raytheon Technologies business, announced that it will begin development this month on the Civil Knowledge Integration – Tactical Assault Kit. Sponsored by the Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate or IWTSD, the Raytheon BBN system facilitates knowledge collection, fusion, translation, and dissemination for civil affairs personnel who act as a liaison between the Department of Defense and foreign civilian authorities and populations.
“Instead of relying on pen, paper and good memories, the ACCESS (Assistant for Civil Collection Enabling Shared SA) tool will provide civil affairs personnel distraction-free data collection by using speech-to-text, voice-controlled operation, and other intuitive user interface elements during their field work,” explained Nate Soule, Raytheon BBN scientist. “Once the data is collected, it’s automatically translated, formatted into existing report templates, and disseminated to designated end users and other systems.”
By applying advanced, but user-friendly, encryption protocols, the reports are auto-redacted based on specific attributes of the reader, such as organization, mission or role. This allows for controlled dissemination of the data within the DoD and to partner organizations while respecting security and privacy – leading to efficient, intuitive, relevant and secure data sharing.
Work will be completed at the BBN facilities in Cambridge, MA.
