Nunes comments on court ruling on NSA bulk metadata program
House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes released the following statement on May 7 in response to the appeals court ruling against the National Security Agency’s bulk metadata program:
“I believe the NSA bulk telephone metadata program to be constitutional, authorized by Congress, and subject to multiple layers of oversight from all three branches of government. In light of today’s ruling, I look forward to seeing further consideration of this matter by the courts. In the meantime, my House colleagues and I are working on a bipartisan, bicameral basis to advance legislation that will retain this vital program for tracking dangerous terrorists. As threats to Americans at home and abroad increase by the day, now is not the time to be weakening our national security, with all the tragic consequences that may follow.”
