NGA to procure data management and design software from Siemens
To help it manage its data more effectively and improve its production systems, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) has decided to procure from Siemens Government Technologies perpetual licenses and maintenance support to two Siemens software packages: TeamCenter and NX.
“The Siemens software products required are central to the architecture of the NGA production systems,” explains a presolicitation notice published by the NGA on January 15. “No other products will provide the interfaces to the data management functions of the systems allowing direct support to the end users.”
The NGA plans to purchase the software and maintenance for a one-year period — January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014 — under a firm fixed price order. Responsible sources can submit a proposal to the NGA by January 21.
“TeamCenter’s engineering process management solution allows you to integrate your engineering teams by bringing together the product designs from all your sites within a single product data management (PDM) system,” says Siemens on its own Web site. “You can capture, manage and synchronize product design data, then automate your engineering change, validation and approval processes.”
A sales partner of Siemens, DesignFusion, which sells Siemens software nationwide, describes NX software on its own Web site. “NX for Design is an integrated product design solution that streamlines and accelerates the product development process for engineers who need to develop innovative products in a collaborative environment,” says DesignFusion. “NX offers the highest level of integration between development disciplines in an open, collaborative environment.”
