NGA extends NEI RFI
On July 11, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) announced an extension for its commercial non-Earth imaging (NEI) request for information (RFI). The updated response date is 5:00 p.m. Central on July 26.
NGA’s Source (S) organization creates, collects and brokers authoritative GEOINT content and services based on NGA’s intimate knowledge of customer needs and powered by its unique command of the GEOINT supplier market, unparalleled tradecraft expertise, and cutting-edge technology to support national security priorities. The Space Operations Division (SXOS) focuses on improving Space Domain Awareness (SDA) across the GEOINT enterprise to provide NGA customers with high fidelity SDA to increase understanding of the space operational environment.
In the past two decades, the commercial space industry has developed from a nascent technology sector organized primarily around serving government customer needs and providing commercial satellite communications, to a robust, innovative market-driven industry focused primarily around commercial applications and commercial customers. In the commercial remote sensing industry, new capabilities offer alternate solutions for US Government intelligence requirements. This contract will utilize commercial unclassified NEI and associated analytics in satisfying emerging geospatial needs, and inform the development of enduring commercial NEI requirements. The contract will inform the impact of commercial SDA data on the quality and accuracy of commercial NEI data. The contract will also access alternative tasking and data delivery methods.
The objective of this RFI is to identify unclassified Non-Earth Imaging capabilities to include but not limited to: image resolution, data format, data file transmission and, PED capabilities; analyze platform sensor suite capabilities, acquire imagery of non-vendor assets and uncooperative platforms. Additionally, vendors will ensure the quality of data transmitted and mission planning meets the requirements agreed to by the contractor and NGA. The imagery and data created during these operations will augment existing unclassified and classified capabilities and data sources, and integrate directly into analytic workflows for operational use.
The RFI is being extended to allow NGA to answer all questions submitted for this RFI. Questions and Answers will be uploaded in the coming days.
