On August 5, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) released a request for information (RFI) for Automated Vertical Obstruction Identification and Detection (AVOID). Responses are due by 5:00 p.m. Central on August 19.
The NGA is seeking information on how an interested vendor could provide unclassified VO data to satisfy emerging geospatial requirements that inform and enhance the development of enduring commercial capabilities. The NGA is seeking a contractor to provide comprehensive VO data sources to enhance aviation mission planning. Additionally, the NGA is seeking the contractor provided capability to provide robust quality assurance and accuracy data of the aggregated VO data. The NGA expects, over the Period of Performance (PoP), for the contractor provided VO data to inform NGA and NSG partners on current and newly constructed VOs; thereby, enabling enhanced aviation mission planning and aviation accident risk reduction.
The purpose of this RFI is to obtain information on vendor provided capabilities to detect, identify, classify, and mensurate man-made vertical obstructions (VOs) posing significant aviation dangers and risks for low altitude aviation mission planning and rehearsals.
NGA has a mission-critical need for The GEOINT mission responsibilities of several offices in NGA and NSG mission partners have had an enduring need to support low altitude mission planning, to conduct prioritization of VOs, hazards detection, and force protection. NGA and NSG partners have a mission critical need to accelerate the VO Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TCPED) process to improve the timeliness of VO identification and characterization into unclassified and classified networks and for automated data analysis and integration into visualization tools. Therefore, the NGA is seeking a contractor provided capability to automate VO end-user access that supports NGA’s mission to deliver analytic insights to policymakers and warfighters, leveraging the unique capabilities of the commercial GEOINT industry.
