Lieutenant General Michael Shields USA (Ret.) joins CACI as SVP
CACI International Inc of Arlington, VA announced on May 8 it has named Lieutenant General Michael Shields USA (Ret.), as senior vice president of advanced technology for mission adoption. LTG Shields brings the company more than 30 years of military leadership experience, most recently as Director of the Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization (JIDO) Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) from 2015 to 2018.
With CACI, LTG Shields will focus on strategic planning to integrate advanced technologies in such areas as novel sensors, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and others with warfighting needs, and guiding the development of mission-ready solutions, from quick reaction through full certification and deployment.
At JIDO, LTG Shields led a highly trained team of experts in countering threat networks and the adversarial use of disruptive technology. He developed an extremely successful culture of lean innovation, while also seamlessly transitioning JIDO to align with larger Department of Defense requirements, networks, and systems. His additional achievements include expanding JIDO’s collaboration with non-traditional mission partners in industry and academia, identifying emerging technologies and their impact on America’s military, and managing JIDO’s quick reaction capabilities.
LTG Shields’ military career includes serving as Commanding General of the U.S. Army Alaska; Director of the Pakistan/Afghanistan Coordination Center, Joint Staff; the JIEDDO Deputy Director for Operations and Intelligence and Director of the Counter IED Operations and Intelligence Integration Center; and Director of the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center, Joint Staff.
