Level 3 selected as provider for DISA’s Global Network Services contract
Level 3 Communications of Broomfield, CO announced on January 6 that the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has awarded the company a multiple-year competitive contract known as Global Network Services (GNS). The contract allows Level 3 to bid on and provide communications services to support DISA’s goal of providing a single global network including both wired and wireless technologies by 2020.
GNS provides DISA with a vehicle to procure leased telecommunications services in support of the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) and DoD Information Network (DoDIN) worldwide. GNS is a multiple-award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract, with a five-year base period and five one-year option periods. Level 3 will have the opportunity to support the Defense Department’s more than 40 military services, combatant commands and intelligence and functional agencies via a suite of global network-based services.
“The importance of an agile, secure and reliable network among government agencies cannot be overstated – particularly within DISA,” said David Young, regional vice president for Level 3’s Government Markets group. “Level 3 has architected a global network that provides a broad array of essential communications services, making us a trusted provider to a number of state, local and federal government organizations. We look forward to supporting DISA with best-in-class enterprise solutions that can deliver mission-critical communications any time, across the world.”
