Intelligent Waves adds Heidi Pirela as chief HR officer

Reston, VA-based Intelligent Waves, LLC announced on July 29 that Heidi Pirela will join the company as its new chief human resources officer. In support of Intelligent Waves’ growth and expansion, she will be responsible for leading the company’s invigorated human resources (HR) function, including organization development, integrated talent management, leadership development, and culture. Pirela has a proven track record of leading HR teams that maximize efficiency, drive engagement, and leverage integrated HR technologies to add value and deliver best in class HR strategies.

Pirela joins the Intelligent Waves team after serving for two years as head of people operations for Spaceflight Industries, a geospatial intelligence and data analytics company focused on satellite imagery and on-demand intelligence offerings.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD and a master’s in public administration with a focus on human resource management from American University in Washington, DC. Pirela is certified as a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). She is also certified by the Society of Human Resources Management with the designation of the Society of Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). Pirela holds a certificate in human resources management from George Mason University and a certification in performance management innovation (PMI) from the Human Capital Institute (HCI).
