Geofeedia and Carahsoft partner to offer location-based social media intelligence to U.S. federal government agencies
Geofeedia, based in Chicago, IL, announced on August 24 a partnership with Reston, VA-based Carahsoft Technology Corp., the trusted government IT solutions provider. Under the agreement, Carahsoft will serve as Geofeedia’s U.S. federal government aggregator, making the company’s social media intelligence solutions available to the public sector via Carahsoft’s GSA schedule and SEWP V contracts.
“This partnership will transform the public sector’s access to location-based social media intelligence,” said Phil Harris, CEO of Geofeedia. “As social media’s popularity continues to grow, government agencies will benefit from having access to a solution that helps increase their situational awareness and response time to local events and natural disasters in real-time.”
Geofeedia’s patented, cloud-based intelligence platform monitors publicly available, open source content throughout the world, allowing users to predict, analyze and act on real-time conversations and events. Current methods of keyword and hashtag listening typically misses more than two thirds of social media activity. Geofeedia’s platform expands search capabilities by aggregating posts from any location worldwide to uncover trends and patterns occurring in real-time. These extended search capabilities enable government agencies to make informed decisions such as increasing safety measures at local events or joining in local conversations with constituents.
“Through this partnership, we are expanding our geospatial, citizen engagement, and public safety solutions portfolios with unique social media intelligence and analysis capabilities,” said Tiffany Goddard, director of geospatial solutions at Carahsoft. “Geofeedia’s transformative solution is the first location-based intelligence technology in our portfolio that empowers our government customers to harness the power of social media to enhance their public safety and community engagement initiatives. We look forward to working with Geofeedia and our reseller partners to drive demand for this innovative technology throughout the public sector market.”
