DHS Secretary Johnson issues statement announcing Paul Beeson as JTF-West director
On December 19, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson announced the appointment of Paul Beacon as director of Joint Task Force-West.
I am pleased to announce that last week I appointed Paul A. Beeson as the new Director of Joint Task Force-West (JTF-West). In this role, Director Beeson will oversee and coordinate the Department’s activities for our southwest land border. Like the other joint task forces in our Southern Border and Approaches Campaign, JTF-West’s mission is protecting our border through effective enforcement and interdiction, combating transnational criminal organizations, and facilitating the flow of lawful trade, travel, and commerce across our borders.
Director Beeson joined the U.S. Border Patrol in 1985, and has previously served as the Commander of the Joint Task Force West, Arizona Corridor, and the Chief Patrol Agent of the Tucson Sector. His extensive leadership experience will be invaluable in his new position. Director Beeson takes over for outgoing JTF-West director Robert Harris, whom I thank for his 32 years of service to the Border Patrol and the Department.
