DHS Deputy Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas issues statement on the Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center
On February 25, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas issued the following statement:
Cybersecurity is one of our critical homeland security priorities. We welcome the President’s announcement today on the creation of the Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center (CTIIC). This center will ensure an integrated intelligence community view of cyber threats and ensure that intelligence information is shared with all U.S. agencies responsible for cybersecurity and network defense.
The CTIIC will support all of the Federal operational cyber centers, including DHS’s National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC), which is the focal point for the federal government’s interaction with the private sector on cybersecurity issues. The CTIIC will also ensure consistent downgrading of intelligence to the lowest classification level to make government-held, classified information actionable and more widely available. Such efforts will be a key enabler for DHS’s efforts to share cyber threat indicators within the government and with our private sector partners. At the same time, DHS will share cyber threat indicators received from our private sector and international partners with the CTIIC, as authorized and consistent with our robust privacy and civil liberties policies, to help protect government and private sector partners.
The creation of the CTIIC is another important step for ensuring a whole-of-government approach to cybersecurity, and one that will ultimately benefit the American people and businesses alike.
