Cubic names Mike Barthlow vice president of C4ISR strategy and business development
Cubic Defense Applications, a business segment of San Diego, CA-based Cubic Corporation, announced on January 22 that Mike Barthlow has been named vice president of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Strategy and Business Development. He will be responsible for the growth and market expansion for the entire C4ISR business area, including business development and driving partnerships with key customers.
Barthlow joins Cubic from Iris Technology, where he served as executive vice president and chief strategy officer. His industry experience also includes executive positions in sales, business development and program management with Gilat Satellite Networks, Harris Corporation and Northrop Grumman.

He is an accomplished strategy and business development executive with a proven track record of building winning, customer focused strategies,” said Mike Twyman, senior vice president of the Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance division. “This appointment is important for Cubic’s future success as we commit to expanding our presence in the C4ISR market, enhancing our customer engagement and creating a wider portfolio of innovative capabilities.”
Cubic recently acquired DTECH Labs, Inc. to build out its C4ISR business line. DTECH represents a value investment and adds networking capability to Cubic’s secure communications business. Barthlow will directly support DTECH’s growth and expansion initatives.
As an officer in the US Marine Corps, Barthlow served as chief of Joint Theater Data Networks for the U.S. Central Command, and Communications and Information Systems officer of an artillery battalion at Camp Pendleton, California.
Barthlow earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania; a Master of Business Administration from California State University San Marcos; and a Master of Science in Information Systems from the University Colorado. His military awards include a Joint Service Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
