Clif Basnight joins Ultra I&C as strategic technologies VP

Clif Basnight has been named Ultra Intelligence & Communications’ new vice president of strategic technologies, the Austin, TX-based company announced July 18.  In this role, Basnight will be responsible for analyzing current and emerging markets to identify opportunities for growth through the development and/or acquisition of cutting-edge technologies. He will lead strategic growth initiatives across Ultra I&C on behalf of the organization’s chief growth officer.

“I joined the Ultra I&C team for the opportunity to work with the world’s finest collection of tactical communications engineers, mission-focused software designers and multi-national cybersecurity experts,” said Basnight. “This team is on the cusp of forging new and innovative ways of reducing the cognitive workload of operators on the battlefield and increasing the speed of relevant information to the tactical edge so that warfighters can focus on mission execution and not fighting the network.”

Basnight’s career spans over 20 years with various leadership roles in all-source intelligence analysis, network engineering, information architecture, product development, business development, capture, and sales. During his 17 years of service in the U.S. Army, Basnight held positions as both a soldier and civil servant. His culminating role as a soldier was as an All-Source Intelligence Master Analyst (1F) in the 4th Infantry Division, where he was responsible for the integration of emerging SIGINT, ELINT, and HUMINT applications in support of targeting.

As an Army civil servant, his final role was as chief engineer for Product Manager Network Systems under the Program Executive Office for Command, Control, and Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T). In this position, he orchestrated the network modernization strategy for the PdM’s portfolio of tactical network solutions deployed across the Army. He also led the network operations activities for the Army’s premier experimentation and integration event.

“We are excited to have Clif join the Ultra I&C team,” said Chris Bishop, chief growth officer. “His expertise and passion align perfectly with our mission and vision, and we are confident that his unique perspective will drive our growth and success.”

Basnight holds a bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College and a master’s degree in information technology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He received a Bronze Star during Operation Iraqi Freedom and is a recipient of the Signal Corps Regimental Association Bronze Order of Mercury.
