Biniam Gebre to lead Accenture Federal Services management consulting group
Biniam Gebre, an expert in public sector transformation, has joined Accenture Federal Services (AFS) as a managing director, heading its growing Management Consulting group that provides advisory services to government clients, Arlington, VA-based AFS announced August 23. Gebre brings to Accenture expertise working with government agencies and financial institutions, with a specialized focus on government effectiveness, risk management and dynamic federal market trends.
“Biniam Gebre has extensive experience navigating complex organizations and building effective partnerships,” said David Moskovitz, chief executive of Accenture Federal Services. “As agencies explore new ways to serve their customers and achieve their missions, Biniam’s expertise as both an advisor and government leader will be indispensable in helping our government clients apply next generation insights driven by data analysis, intelligent automation and artificial intelligence to revolutionize service delivery and redefine their relationship with the citizen.”
Most recently, Gebre was a partner at Oliver Wyman serving clients in the company’s Financial Services and Public Sector practices. Before joining Oliver Wyman, Gebre was Acting Assistant Secretary and Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he led the management of the agency. Gebre drove a number of strategic changes there, including transforming the risk organization, restructuring the Office of Multifamily Housing Programs, redesigning the Asset Sale program, launching the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) initiative aimed at transforming public housing and reforming policies to increase access to credit for first-time homebuyers.

Earlier in his career, Gebre was a partner with McKinsey & Co., which he joined in 2000, and where he was a leader in the Public Sector and Banking and Securities Practices. While at McKinsey, Gebre designed and co-founded the McKinsey Center for Government and led the Capabilities for Execution initiative, which focused on client capability building. He worked with multiple agencies and financial institutions to enhance operational/organizational performance, completing more than 60 projects in 20 countries, focusing on risk management, lean operations, mortgage banking and public finance.
Gebre holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Williams College and a master’s degree in finance and economics from Northwestern University.
