AFRL posts Battle Management for AI RFI
On August 17, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) posted a request for information Battle Management for AI and AI-based Systems Assessment, Adaptation and Deployment. RFI abstracts are due by 4:00 p.m. Eastern on September 8.
The Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate (AFRL/RI) is seeking information on technical concepts, approaches, and merits of approaches to assess, adapt and redeploy AI models in the battlespace during mission execution – a technical process referred to as Battle Management of AI. AFRL is interested in technical concepts that would enable a network of warfighters to rapidly retrain and redeploy AI models inherent within various AF system concepts such Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) and various associated components.
Additionally, AFRL seeks potential motivating use cases of AI model drift within AF systems that would catalyze the need of the Battle Management of AI concept. The technical concept or proposed approach should account for the fact that any adaptation of AI models may be accomplished both in forward locations as well as rear locations utilizing a team of personnel, which AFRL refers to as an AI Task Force.
AFRL is not seeking information related to communications hardware or communications networks to address the orchestration of this AI Task Force and the Battle Management of AI process. There is an overall assumption that current communications networks and hardware are sufficient to support the concept.
Review the AFRL battle management for AI RFI.
