AFRL posts AET BAA

On July 2, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) released a broad agency announcement for the Advanced Electromagnetic Technology (AET) program. Proposals are due by 12:00 p.m. Mountain on August 17 and delivered via the DoD SAFE website.

This is a Closed One-Step Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) (without Calls) to solicit proposals for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Directed Energy Directorate (RD), High Power Electromagnetic Division (RDH), Advanced Electromagnetic Technology (AET) program. AFRL is interested in receiving proposals for innovative and varying approaches to advance the state-of-the-art and scientific knowledge under the AET.

The objective of the Electromagnetic Weapons Technologies Program is to investigate, develop, and ultimately transition new HPEM Weapon concepts, HPEM materials and components, and compact pulsed power topologies. The program will also evaluate and leverage advances in prime power technologies to optimize size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements for future weapon systems. Successful transition entails transitioning the new HPEM Weapon Concept into its own program, or incorporation/use of new HPEM components and materials into another HPEM Program.

The Electromagnetic Weapons Technologies (EMWT) for the AET conducts research addressing the Air Force and DoD requirements for HPEM technologies. The objective of the EMWT Program is to investigate, develop, and ultimately transition new HPEM Weapon concepts, HPEM materials and components, and compact pulsed power topologies. The program will also evaluate and leverage advances in prime power technologies to optimize SWaP requirements for future weapon systems.
