Accenture names John Goodman chief executive of Accenture Federal Services
Accenture announced on November 7 that it has named John Goodman chief executive of Arlington, VA-based Accenture Federal Services (AFS), effective November 20. Goodman, currently AFS chief operating officer, succeeds David Moskovitz, who will remain with AFS through the end of Accenture’s 2018 fiscal year, Aug. 31, 2018, to ensure a seamless transition and lead key strategic initiatives focused on accelerating innovation. Following the transition, Moskovitz will remain a senior managing director at Accenture.
A leader with extensive experience in both business and government, Goodman has a proven track record of success across multiple segments of the AFS business and deep expertise in the federal marketplace. Goodman has been with Accenture almost 20 years and has served as AFS COO since 2012. He has held a variety of other leadership roles in AFS, including management consulting group lead and defense and intelligence portfolio lead. Prior to joining Accenture, Goodman served as the U.S. Deputy Under Secretary for Defense for Industrial Affairs & Installations. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the faculty of the Harvard Business School. Goodman currently serves as chair of the Executive Committee of the Professional Services Council.
As AFS CEO, Moskovitz was honored with the 2017 FCW Eagle Award and named the 2015 GCN Industry Executive of the Year. Over the five-year period that Moskovitz led the organization, AFS dramatically outpaced market growth, moving up the Washington Technology Top 100 federal industry rankings from number 25 to 13. He also established AFS as an industry leader in digital, cloud and cyber, recruited top talent and successfully integrated multiple strategic acquisitions.
“David’s leadership has been pivotal in differentiating AFS as a leading digital innovator in the federal market and positioning the company for the future,” said Dan London, chief executive of Accenture’s Health & Public Service operating group. “I look forward to working with John in his new role as chief executive of AFS. His proven leadership, public-sector experience, and personal commitment to our clients and our people are reflective of Accenture’s dedication to changing how the world works and lives.”
“It’s been a privilege to serve with such a talented, passionate team, and I am very proud of the contributions we’ve made to support our country’s most important missions,” Moskovitz said. “Having worked closely with John over the last five years, I am confident that he is the right leader to build on our successes and create the path forward for AFS.”
Goodman said, “I am honored to be the next chief executive of Accenture Federal Services and am excited about our future – bringing the best of Accenture to help our clients address their toughest challenges in bold, innovative ways.”
