Tenable Network Security announces federal sales division

TenableTenable Network Security®, Inc. of Columbia, MD announced on February 23 that it is expanding its focus on the federal market and has hired Darron Makrokanis to lead a new sales division dedicated to meeting the unique cybersecurity needs of federal customers.

“As the U.S. federal government heightens cybersecurity efforts under the Cybersecurity National Action Plan, our federal teams will be working alongside our customers to solve some of their biggest security challenges,” said Mike Kirby, senior vice president of worldwide sales, Tenable Network Security. “With impressive depth and breadth of experience within the defense, intelligence and law enforcement communities, Darron will lead Tenable’s federal expansion and help our customers defend complex networks against the cyber threats of today and tomorrow.”

Makrokanis most recently served as senior business development executive and program manager for Splunk, overseeing strategic partnerships and alliances with federal systems integrators (FSIs). Prior to that, he worked at Booz Allen Hamilton where he managed business development efforts for various U.S. government organizations including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Defense (DoD). Earlier in his career, Makrokanis oversaw criminal investigations and special operations for two DC-metro area counties for 10 years and currently serves as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
