Communications & Power Industries awarded $3.5 million contract
The Malibu Division of Palo Alto, CA-based Communications & Power Industries LLC (CPI) announced May 4 that it has been awarded a production contract totaling more than $3.5 million to supply advanced antenna products, including dual-axis Ku-band ground and airborne data links, for a mid-altitude long endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platform. CPI Malibu Division’s vital advanced antenna products will support long-range intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions for a NATO country.
Advanced data link antennas and ground data terminals are an essential part of a UAV’s ISR systems. Data link systems transmit data and images from the UAV to the ground-based mission control and transmit command and control data from ground-based warfighters to the UAV. Combining the high-precision auto-tracking capabilities of CPI Malibu Division’s ground data terminals with its airborne advanced data link antennas provides warfighters with a quickly and easily deployable solution for greater situational awareness in the field. CPI Malibu Division currently provides ground and airborne data terminals for a number of UAV platforms worldwide.
“CPI Malibu Division has been working with leading UAV manufacturers, the U.S. military and allied militaries for many years, providing reliable, mission-critical advanced antenna products to protect personnel and assets,” said Steve Lonngren, president of CPI Malibu Division. “Our advanced antenna products have been proven in the field, enabling domestic and foreign customers to rely on CPI Malibu Division as a dependable partner for their ISR needs. This contract with a valued foreign customer extends our global footprint, and we are honored to have been awarded it.”
Work on this multi-year contract will be completed in Camarillo, CA.
