Greystones Group and Voyatek JV secures anti-identity theft contract

The joint venture between Voyatek and Greystones Group, operating as Mission Insights, announced on September 30 that it has been awarded a new contract by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to develop and deliver innovative approaches to combat identity theft.
Mission Insights outperformed seven competitors to secure this critical engagement, underscoring the JV’s proven ability to bring advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and mission-focused innovation to the IRS.
As part of this award, Greystones Group will lead the development of the Suspect Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) tool, which is designed to detect fraudulent or compromised EFINs and the identity theft schemes tied to them. This capability will strengthen the IRS’s ability to protect taxpayers, improve fraud detection accuracy, and safeguard the financial integrity of the tax system.
This win builds upon the JV’s prior success supporting the IRS under the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), where the team has been instrumental in modernizing anti-money-laundering compliance capabilities. By combining Voyatek’s federal contracting depth with Greystones Group’s expertise in data analytics, AI/ML, and secure mission systems, the partnership is uniquely positioned to deliver measurable results in the fight against financial crime.
“The IRS mission is one of the most data-intensive in government, and identity theft is a rapidly evolving threat that is becoming more complex as criminals leverage generative AI” said John Mark Suhy, chief technology officer, Greystones Group. “With the Electronic Filing Identification Number or EFIN tool, we are applying advanced analytics and AI to help the IRS stay ahead of adversaries while reducing false positives that impact legitimate taxpayers. We’re proud to lead the technical development of this critical capability.”
