DIA releases common data fabric RFI
On December 10, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) posted a request for information (RFI) for Common Data Fabric (CDF). Responses are due by 11:00 a.m. Eastern on December 20.
The DIA is seeking a vendor to provide program and technical capability implementation, management, and enhancement services to the CDF Portfolio of capabilities. These capabilities consist of CDF Data Brokering and API management, Policy Capture Tool (PCT), and Common Transformation Service (CTS).
The CDF delivers a data brokering capability from machine-to-machine across the Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE). The CDF serves as a scalable, modular, open architecture that enables systems to collect, process, and disseminate intelligence data. Through the CDF, the Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE) will enable the integration of new and emerging capabilities into their existing architecture. CDF operates on multiple networks to enable seamless data brokering from tasking to collection to near real-time dissemination out to the warfighter.
The CDF represents a technical solution to the complex challenge of sharing data in the DIE, constrained by networks, cyber policies, and human behavior. CDF initially began as a prototype five years ago as a refinement for Distributed Common Ground / Surface System (DCGS) Modernization that has since moved to production/operational point. The current solution utilizes Cloudera Data Flow Management and Cloudera Data Platform Private Cloud; however, this may change at the Government’s discretion.
