New Center for Cyber Security building planned for Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD
The U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, will soon see the construction of a major new building, the P621 Center for Cyber Security, and the folks at the Naval Facilities Engineering Command want to hear from small businesses that claim the capability to construct such a building.
The Navy says it is still in the preliminary planning phase, and it has not yet made any formal decisions on its intended procurement strategy.
The cost for the building is expected to range between $90 and $100 million, according to a sources sought document released on Feb. 28.
“The project constructs a multi-floor academic mission facility including classrooms, teaching and research labs, lecture halls, offices, multi-purpose space, observatory, loading dock, and research and testing tank in support of the engineering and weapons labs,” explains the notice. “The facility also includes a Secure Compartmented Intelligence Facility (SCIF) to support labs, lecture halls, and specialized support spaces.”
Interested small businesses are invited to submit their capabilities statements (to a maximum of 20 pages) by March 17, outlining their experience in similar construction projects.
“The new facility is expected to be 206,452 SF, and constructed with steel frame on concrete pile foundation system, elevated composite concrete slab floors, low-slope membrane roof, and façade comprised of precast concrete, masonry veneer, metal panel, and laminated glass,” explains the notice.
