BlueLine Grid announced on September 4 that John Cohen, former Principal Deputy Undersecretary for Intelligence and Analysis at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, has joined the company to help formulate and execute its public safety market strategy.

“I am thrilled that John will be joining our team”

Cohen will work with CEO David Riker, co-founder Jack Weiss and the company’s senior management to set the strategic direction, expansion and operation of BlueLine Grid’s public safety solutions. BlueLine Grid is setting the standard for mobile government communications with innovative features like the Grid directory of 22 million U.S. public employees, OpenBridge push-to-talk conferencing and Team Tracker, which allows agencies to locate and manage mobile employees.

“I am thrilled that John will be joining our team,” said Riker. “He brings to the company over 30 years experience in law enforcement and homeland security. He shares our values and our focus on innovation, and he places the same strong emphasis as we do on effective communication in all areas of government.”

Cohen joins BlueLine Grid from DHS where he was the Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis. As the senior career official within the office, Cohen served as the chief operating officer of the organization within DHS responsible for the gathering, analysis and dissemination of intelligence information. Cohen also served as the counterterrorism coordinator for DHS. In this capacity, he oversaw the development and implementation of department-wide counterterrorism operational activities and programs, to include those associated with the detection and prevention of, response to, and recovery from acts of terrorism in the United States.

“I am profoundly honored to work with the team at BlueLine Grid and very much look forward to further enriching our government clients’ experience,” said Cohen. “I have admired the innovation of the BlueLine Grid team and look forward to contributing to the company’s continued success and leadership in advancing how governments communicate with employees and their citizens throughout the world.”
