World Wide Technology awarded DISA Enterprise Storage Services II contract

World Wide TechnologyWorld Wide Technology, Inc., of St. Louis, MO, announced on April 13 that it has been awarded the Enterprise Storage Services II (ESS II) contract with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). The contract will be for four years with a base amount of $100 thousand, and two one-year extension options with a total ceiling amount of $427 million.

In conjunction with its strategic partner Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), WWT will provide DISA with dynamically scalable, on-demand storage infrastructure based on HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage, which can adjust to new and unpredictable demands. This storage environment will enable flexible worker access and be capable of handling classified and unclassified data. It will technically refresh the existing DISA storage environment and serve the enterprise storage requirements for DISA’s U.S.-based facilities and other DISA-approved locations worldwide. Once deployed, the government will maintain daily operations of the enterprise storage environment and oversight responsibilities.

“The ESS II contract will help close the gap between increasing storage demands and lower budgets, as well as eliminating monolithic and modular architectures,” said Joe Ayers, vice president, Federal Enterprise Group, HPE. “With HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage, DISA will have a single, optimized storage architecture that provides reliable, responsive, and cost-effective storage infrastructure services and ‘on-demand’ storage capabilities.”

ESS II also enables the Department of Defense (DOD) to transition to a robust and flexible enterprise storage environment that provides a secure, resilient and flexible method for DISA customers to access their data anywhere, anytime and on any device globally. This functionality can significantly enhance the warfighter’s capability. The solution’s architectural design employs CTERA’s File Sync and Share on the front-end and a multi-site private Cleversafe’s object storage cloud on the back-end. The object storage cloud back-bone can also serve many other use cases including tapeless systems back-up and an active archive repository and will provide potentially large cost savings to the DOD.

“WWT is honored to receive the DISA ESS II award and confident that we will not only deliver the highest value, but also exceed the expectations of DISA based on our proven success and exceptional past performance,” said Bob Olwig, vice president of Business Strategy and Innovation at WWT. “Together with our strategic partner HPE, we will provide a flexible, on-demand enterprise storage environment for DISA that will meet the evolving enterprise storage requirements of today’s federal agencies.”
