Voyager names John Baum strategy and advanced concepts EVP

On December 1, Voyager Technologies announced that it has appointed John Baum as executive vice president, strategy and advanced concepts, bringing aboard one of the industry’s most versatile and mission-driven leaders to sharpen the company’s strategic edge and propel growth across its fastest-moving markets.
“John brings a rare combination of operational credibility and strategic imagination,” said Matt Kuta, president and co-founder, Voyager Technologies. “He’s flown at the edge of the envelope, built disruptive defense businesses and led at the highest levels of government. He knows what it takes to build capability fast, adapt to shifting threats and deliver when it counts. His insight into emerging opportunities across commercial space, defense and advanced aviation will help accelerate Voyager’s growth in rapidly expanding markets.”
Baum’s career spans the most elite environments in aerospace, combining operational precision, commercial innovation and global strategic engagement. His recent experience as lead pilot and business development executive helped define the future of commercial human spaceflight, leading astronaut training, flight-test readiness and safety, while driving partnerships focused on training for the Department of War and U.S. Space Force.
“Space and defense are entering a new era where speed wins, whether speed of integration, speed of capability delivery or speed of decision,” said Baum. “Voyager has built a neo-prime model and mentality that moves at that pace, tackling the hardest problems and cutting-edge programs in aerospace and defense, and I’m fired up to help drive its next chapter of growth.”
Previously, Baum co-founded Draken International and served in several premier U.S. Air Force roles, including F-16 pilot, Thunderbirds demonstration pilot, Weapons School instructor, F-16 pilot instructor, HAF/A5 air dominance chief and munitions requirements officer, as well as chief of the Media & Opinion Leader Branch for the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force. He brings firsthand experience training with the crews of Inspiration4 and Polaris Dawn, where he also served as philanthropy director raising funds and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
