President Obama announces appointment of IC CIO; DNI Clapper releases statement
On July 23, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper released the following statement on President Obama’s decision to appoint Ray Cook as IC CIO:
I am very pleased that President Obama announced today his intent to appoint Dr. Raymond “Ray” Cook to be the next Intelligence Community Chief Information Officer (IC CIO). Ray’s breadth and depth of managing highly technical programs, his proven leadership and relentless commitment to national security make him an excellent choice to be the next IC CIO.
Ray is currently the director for the Office of Space Reconnaissance within CIA’s Directorate of Science and Technology where he is leading their efforts to integrate NRO’s fulfillment of its IC mission. Ray is concurrently the NRO director of Mission Operations. Before joining the NRO, Ray led multi-agency IT infrastructure, data sharing and compliance within CIA.
During Ray’s long and distinguished career, his duties and accomplishments have cut across all dimensions of information technology. In addition to his technical expertise, Ray has demonstrated the balanced leadership needed to oversee the IC IT Enterprise, our most significant community initiative.
I congratulate Ray and his family on his appointment, and I am confident the community will continue to meet its mission under Ray’s leadership.
