On September 17, Owl Cyber Defense announced that its V2CDS Cross Domain Solution (CDS) has completed the National Cross Domain Strategy and Management Office (NCDSMO) Lab-Based Security Assessment process, achieving certification against the assessment’s standards for the solution’s new Data Format Description Language (DFDL)-based structured data capability. This extends the certification V2CDS already holds for voice, audio and video. NCDSMO certification ensures a CDS meets stringent security and operational standards required for U.S. government and defense use.
V2CDS equips defense and intelligence users with a single platform certified for secure, real-time voice-over-IP (VoIP), video teleconferencing (VTC), full-motion video (FMV), streaming audio and structured data exchange across security boundaries. V2CDS’s structured data capability is built on Apache NiFi for flow orchestration paired with DFDL-based schema parsing, giving customers a self-customizable path to structured data transfer support that can evolve with mission needs on their own terms. Consolidating these capabilities onto a single certified platform means mission teams can achieve real-time collaboration with voice, audio, video and data according to their unique mission requirements. This capability expedites decision-making across classification levels by arming warfighters and artificial intelligence (AI)-based systems with secure connections and data at the speed of mission.
“This milestone reflects Owl’s continued commitment to setting the industry standard for cross domain collaboration,” said Tim Fahl, Owl’s chief technology officer. “Structured data based on DFDL’s open, vendor-neutral standard means agencies are able to control data without vendor lock-in, giving them the freedom to evolve their data architecture on their own terms rather than a supplier’s roadmap.”
V2CDS 2.1 brings a mission-tested track record of adaptability for deployment on a variety of commercial-off-the-shelf hardware, from enterprise servers to low-SWAP rugged hardware, anywhere the mission demands. V2CDS also integrates with existing VoIP and VTC infrastructure, so operators can add certified cross domain capability without ripping and replacing what is already installed. U.S. Government certification means that V2CDS has already cleared the toughest cross domain bar, giving operators a validated foundation for their own Authority to Operate instead of a blank page, the company said.
