NSG strategy to accelerate GEOINT enterprise integration, interoperability, unity of effort
Robert Cardillo, functional manager for geospatial intelligence and director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, released the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG) Strategy 2016 at the GEOINT Symposium on May 16. The Strategy calls for focused attention on professionalization, interoperability and unity of effort to accelerate progress toward an integrated and interoperable GEOINT Enterprise.
“As a community, we will rethink how we inspire our workforce, define problems, invest resources, execute the mission and satisfy the evolving needs of our customers at a holistic, enterprise level,” said Cardillo.
NSG members will marshal talent and resources around these three priorities to make the enterprise more resilient, said Cardillo.
“The resulting agility will enable the NSG to surge talent, data, infrastructure, capabilities and know-how across domains and along mission threads,” said Dustin Gard-Weiss, chair of the National Geospatial Intelligence Committee, also known as the GEOCOM.
The GEOCOM is Cardillo’s primary mechanism to execute the strategy and measure the NSG’s progress in meeting the priorities.
“We operate in a dynamic, complex and interconnected threat environment,” said Cardillo.
The strategy capitalizes on opportunities and mitigates the risks of adopting new technologies and methods, which will improve the quality, timeliness and value of GEOINT, said Cardillo.
“The strategy readies the GEOINT enterprise to defeat adversaries emboldened by technological advances, global instability, and economic uncertainty,” he said.
