NGA posts geospatial terminals ops RFI

On August 31, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) posted a request for information (RFI) for geospatial terminals operations. Responses are due by 10:00 a.m. Central on October 4.

NGA in support of the Aeronautical Navigation Office (SFA) is seeking information on how an interested contractor could continue maintaining DoD Terminal Instrument Procedures utilizing the Geospatial Terminals Operation software. Provide investigation, exploration and implementation of operational enhancements and modernization. The purpose of this RFI is to gain information on current Industry practices that would meet NGA’s requirements.

NGA has a mission-critical need for worldwide requirement to provide time sensitive Safety of Navigation (SoN) Aeronautical information and data to support operational needs of the Department of Defense (DoD). A significant increase in the demand for complete worldwide Terminal procedure coverage necessitates a need to transform the production of Terminal procedures.

Aeronautical data published by NGA consists of hard and soft copy products, both of which are utilized for mission planning, aircraft navigation, and within flight management systems. Production of Aeronautical data is provided on a 28-day cycle as well as on an ad-hoc basis. It is NGA’s goal to continue maintaining DoD Terminal Instrument Procedures utilizing the Geospatial Terminals Operation software. Terminal Instrument Procedures consist of Instrument Approach Procedures (IAPs), Standard Instrument Departures Procedures (SIDs), Standard Terminal Arrival Charts (STARs), and Airport Diagrams.
